Activities
Training
- First Aid Training: Conducted under three categories: Senior Professionals for those in or interested in health services, Senior Students for college students, and Junior Students for school students to encourage social service and Junior Red Cross participation. Guided by IRCS National Headquarters, certificates are issued upon completion. Basic orientation programs are also offered to meet daily needs.
- Patient Attendant & Home-based Baby Care Training: Initiated to enhance youth skills in healthcare, preparing them for professional roles in hospitals, nursing homes, and households, increasing their income opportunities.
- Training for Domestic Helpers: Conducted on demand by the Directorate of Employment, Govt. of West Bengal, at District Employment Exchanges in Hooghly. Focuses on modern household gadget operation, personal safety, hygiene, health, aged and baby care, and first aid.
- Disaster Preparedness and Management Training: Supported by IRCS West Bengal State Branch, this training equips participants for disaster, rescue, and relief activities, typically for batches of 30 candidates.
Health Programme
- Health Awareness: Campaigns promote preventive strategies through health education, targeting schools and communities with talks, posters, fairs, and rallies to foster healthy behaviors and reduce disease burden.
- Health Camp: Provides mobile health screenings, treatments, and guidance in underserved or rural areas to improve healthcare access, facilitate early diagnosis, and raise health awareness for children, adolescents, women, and the elderly.
- First Aid Camp: Offers emergency medical services and pre-hospitalization care during disasters, fairs, festivals, or high-risk sites, upon request from organizations or as guided by government departments.
- Blood Donation Camp: Organizes and supports camps to collect blood from voluntary donors, promoting awareness and encouraging blood donation to meet community needs.
- Rogi Sahayata Kendra (RSK): Operates in Chandannagar Sub-Division Hospital, Uttarpara State General Hospital, and ten block-level hospitals in Hooghly, in collaboration with Rogi Kalyan Samities and the Health & Family Welfare Department. Rogi Sahayaks assist patients and visitors with treatment, information, and hospital services.
- Geriatric Care Services: Provides on-call critical care, treatment, home-based care, caregiver, and elder peer support services to improve accessibility for the elderly, especially those lacking daily care.
Other Activities
- Legal Awareness Programme: Promotes basic legal literacy on women’s and children’s rights and available legal aid services, with need-based counseling, supported by District/Sub-Division Legal Aid Services Authority.
- Life Skills Guidance: Awareness and skill development for adolescents to equip them for everyday challenges and decision-making, fostering future development.
- Celebration of Days: Observes Independence Day (15th August), Republic Day (26th January), and Red Cross Day (8th May) with members, volunteers, and well-wishers, alongside other significant days as needed.
